About Customermates

Customermates is an open-source, AI-native CRM for small client-facing teams such as consultants, agencies and other service businesses. It is built and operated in Germany by its founder, Benjamin Wagner. The core is licensed under AGPL-3.0, and the source code is public on GitHub.

Founder

Benjamin Wagner studied computer science at Heidelberg University and worked for more than six years as a senior software engineer on B2B software before he started Customermates as an independent, bootstrapped company. He writes and answers customer messages himself; you can reach him through the contact page or on LinkedIn.

How our guides and comparisons are made

The articles, solution pages, feature pages and comparisons on this site are researched and drafted with AI assistance and published under Benjamin Wagner's responsibility. These rules apply to every page:

• Product statements are checked against the product. Every statement about what Customermates does is checked against the product's source code and documentation. Prices, trial length and plan allowances are rendered from the same price catalog the product bills from, so they cannot drift from the real offer.
• Competitor details come from the vendors. Prices, plans, limits and features of other products are taken from the vendors' own websites, linked on the page, and carry the date they were checked. We do not use anonymous reviews or unsourced figures.
• We do not rank ourselves first. Lists and comparisons describe which product fits which situation. Every page that compares or lists products says that Customermates publishes it, and every page names the cases where another product is the better choice.
• We say what Customermates does not do. Limits are stated on the page where they matter, for example that the unified inbox needs the Pro plan and that self-hosting does not include the inbox or the Mate assistant.
