With Customermates, the managed cloud is ready as soon as you sign up. The interface is self-explanatory, intuitive, and immediately usable without training. You can work directly with real customer data without spending days on configuration.

Salesforce is not designed for quick starts. Even the entry-level Starter Suite requires configuration, training, and often external support. The platform follows enterprise logic with lifecycle stages, complex workflows, object relationships, and a steep learning curve. What Salesforce markets as a quick start often translates to weeks or months in practice before the system is truly productive.

Pricing & Cost Model

Customermates starts at €12 per user per month (Starter), with every core CRM feature included and no hidden costs. Pro (€29) and Business (€69) add the unified inbox and a larger hosted AI allowance. Billing is monthly.

As of September 2026, Salesforce Sales Cloud pricing lists a Free Suite at $0, Starter Suite at $25/user/month (monthly or annual), and Pro Suite at $100, Core at $195, Advanced at $395 and Max at $550 per user per month, billed annually. Agentforce, Salesforce's AI agent layer, is a paid add-on on lower tiers, and further add-ons like Revenue Intelligence, CPQ, or industry-specific clouds accumulate rapidly.

A team of 10 salespeople on the Pro Suite pays $1,000/month, and that is before any add-ons. The same team on Customermates Starter pays €120/month total with every core CRM feature included. For teams that need CRM rather than an enterprise platform, Salesforce is disproportionately expensive.

Open-Source & Transparency

Customermates is open-source. You can inspect the code and self-host the system on infrastructure you control. There is no opaque licensing.

Salesforce is proprietary software with one of the most complex licensing models in the industry. Switching away from Salesforce is notoriously difficult and expensive, with data migration, AppExchange dependency, and custom development all creating lock-in.

Usage Limits & Flexibility

Salesforce enforces storage limits, API call limits, and custom field limits that vary by edition. The Starter Suite is limited to basic CRM functions, and scaling to more advanced features requires expensive upgrades. Custom objects, validation rules, and workflow automations are restricted in lower tiers.

Customermates does not gate records, custom fields, the REST API or webhooks by tier, starting at €12/user/month. Deals use one configurable stage column with per-stage probabilities.

AI Agents & Automation

Salesforce offers AI through Agentforce (formerly Einstein), but it comes at a premium. Meaningful AI features require the more expensive editions or the Agentforce add-on, adding another cost layer on top of the license.

Customermates takes a different route: AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) connect to the CRM through a native MCP integration (49 tools) and operate it directly. They read and write contacts, deals, and notes, On the cloud from Pro, the hosted Mate assistant drafts across the unified inbox and sends after your confirmation. With a separately operated n8n instance connected through webhooks and the REST API, you can build automated workflows; you pay your AI provider for the client you connect, and hosted AI credits are included in each cloud plan. Data Protection & Hosting

In the managed cloud, the Customermates application database runs in the AWS Frankfurt region; hosting and other subprocessors, including US providers, are listed on the subprocessors page, and a DPA is available. If you need full control over where data lives, self-host the open-source core.

Salesforce operates a global cloud infrastructure with data processing that can occur outside the EU depending on configuration. While Salesforce offers EU data residency options, they require specific contractual arrangements and do not cover all services equally.

Integrations

Both systems offer API access and integrations. Salesforce has a massive AppExchange with thousands of integrations, but many are paid, edition-dependent, or complex to implement. The platform's integration power comes with consultant-level complexity.

Customermates relies on open interfaces: webhooks, MCP and a documented REST API at the base price, plus a community node for a separately operated n8n instance that connects to many other services.
